What we make. Welded mesh dog runs along the side of the house, free-standing dog enclosures with a roof, kennel fronts and doors, dog cages, and dog partitions that close off part of the yard (the driveway, the pool, the garden or the front gate) so dogs and people can be kept apart when needed. Everything is made to measure in steel and finished against rust.

Most of our dog jobs start with a simple problem: the dogs rush the gate when it opens, a delivery person can’t get to the door, the garden is being dug up, or visitors with children are nervous. A well-placed partition or run solves it without giving up the dogs’ space.

What we build

Dog runs

A dog run is a long enclosure, often down the side of the house or along a boundary wall, using the wall as one side. We fit mesh panels and a lockable gate, and can add a roof over all or part of it. Runs make good use of the narrow strip that many Gaborone and Mogoditshane plots have beside the house.

Free-standing dog enclosures and kennels

Four-sided enclosures with a gate, an optional roof and a sheltered kennel area. We make them welded in one piece where access allows, or as bolt-together panels that can be moved if you rent or plan to relocate.

Dog partitions and yard dividers

A dog partition is a steel fence and gate that divides the yard. Common examples are a partition between the driveway and the back yard so the main gate can open safely, a divider that keeps dogs off the pool area or vegetable garden, and a section that lets the front door be reached without passing the dogs.

Dog cages

Smaller steel cages for puppies, a dog recovering from an operation, or separating dogs at feeding time. Sizes are made to suit the dog and the space.

Options and materials

  • Mesh: welded steel mesh in a choice of aperture and wire thickness. Smaller openings stop small dogs and puppies squeezing through or getting a jaw stuck; heavier wire suits large, strong breeds that jump or chew. Steel bar or palisade-style fronts are also possible.
  • Frame: square or rectangular steel tube, welded, so panels stay flat and the gate stays square.
  • Height: chosen for the breed. Climbers and jumpers need taller panels or a mesh roof.
  • Roof and shade: sheeting over the kennel end gives shade in the Botswana heat and cover in the rains. Many owners roof part of the run and leave part open.
  • Anti-dig edge: for diggers, a mesh skirt turned inwards at ground level or panels set onto a concrete strip.
  • Gates and latches: a self-closing or lockable latch at a height children can’t easily reach, a padlock tab, and optionally a double-gate entry so a dog can’t slip out when you go in.
  • Floor: we work with your builder or on an existing slab. A concrete floor with a slight fall makes washing down easy.
  • Feeding hatch: a small hinged opening for food and water bowls so you don’t have to enter every time.
  • Finish: primer and paint in the colour you want, or galvanising for the longest life against urine and washing.

Planning a dog enclosure: what to think about

  • Shade and water first. Place the kennel end where it gets afternoon shade, and plan a fixed water bowl.
  • Size for the dogs you have. The dogs should be able to stand, turn, lie stretched out and move around. Several dogs need more room and sometimes separate sections.
  • Keep the main gate clear. If the dogs are kept away from the driveway while the gate is moving, the gate is safer and they can’t run out into the road. See our gates and sliding gates.
  • Think about the pool. If you have a pool, a partition can do double duty for dogs and small children. See pool fencing and safety gates.
  • Drainage. Avoid low spots where water stands after rain.

Why a custom-made enclosure

Ready-made dog cages come in fixed sizes and are often light mesh that a big dog can bend. A fabricated enclosure fits the actual space, uses mesh and tube chosen for your dogs, and can use your walls as sides, which saves material. Gates are hung to open the way you need, and the finish matches your fencing. If a panel is damaged later, we repair it locally.

How the job works

  1. Send the basics on WhatsApp. Send photos of the area, rough length, width and height, how many dogs you have and how big they are, and whether you want a roof.
  2. Free site measure in Greater Gaborone. We measure the space, check the ground and the walls we can fix to, and agree where the gate and kennel end should go. The visit is free across Gaborone and Phakalane, Gabane, Mogoditshane, Tlokweng and Mmopane. Further afield in Botswana we quote from photos and measurements first.
  3. Written, itemised quote within 4 business hours of having the measurements. Every line is listed (material, sizes, finish, installation), so you can compare quotes properly.
  4. Fabrication in our Gabane workshop. Everything steel is cut, welded, ground, primed and painted at our workshop in Rasoko Ward, Gabane.
  5. Installation by our own team, then a walk-through at handover so you know how locks, latches and fixings work.
