What we make. Steel balcony balustrades, internal and external stair balustrades, wall-mounted handrails, ramp and step rails, landing and void railings, and laser-cut decorative balustrade panels. Everything is measured on site, fabricated to fit, primed against rust and finished in the colour you choose.
Balcony balustrades
On a double-storey house the balcony railing is both a safety barrier and part of the street front. We make simple vertical or horizontal bar designs, flat-bar and square-tube styles, and panels with laser-cut patterns that match a gate or fence. Railings are fixed into the slab edge or the face of the balcony with fixings chosen for the structure.

Stair balustrades and stair rails
Stair rails have to follow the pitch of the stair exactly, so we measure on site after the stair is cast or built. We make rails with horizontal bars, vertical balusters or solid infill panels, with a comfortable top rail for the hand. Inside the house the finish is usually a smooth paint or powder coat; outside we put extra attention on primer and paint at fixings and the bottom of posts, where rust starts.

Laser-cut balustrade panels
Laser-cut steel panels turn a railing into a feature: geometric patterns, leaves, trees or a design of your own. The same patterns can run through your gate, fence panels and balustrades so the whole property matches.

Handrails, ramps and small metal work
We also make wall-mounted handrails, step and ramp rails, washing-line posts and other small welded pieces for new houses, often in the same visit as the balustrades.

Safety: height, gaps and fixing
A balustrade is a safety item, so a few points matter more than the design:
- Height: follow your architect’s drawings or the building plan approval for balustrade height on balconies and stairs.
- Gaps: keep openings small enough that a small child cannot climb through or get their head stuck, and avoid horizontal bars that are easy to climb on balconies where children play. Ask us about vertical infill or panels if this is a concern.
- Fixing: posts must be fixed into sound concrete or steel, not only into plaster or tiles.
- Finish: rust at the base of a post weakens it over time. A good primer and paint, or galvanising for outdoor rails, protects it.
What drives the cost
We quote every balustrade from measurements, without standard prices. The main factors are the total length, the number of posts and corners, the design (simple bars or laser-cut panels), the steel sections, the finish, and access for installation (for example a double-storey balcony).
How to get a quote
- Send photos of the balcony or stair, and the plan if you have one.
- Give the approximate length of railing and the number of flights or balconies.
- Send a picture of a design you like, from our project gallery or anywhere else.
- Tell us your suburb. The site measure is free in Greater Gaborone.
